This year’s edition of the nationwide “Snowdrop Descent” (Snezhnyy Desant) campaign engaged volunteers across all age groups, with students from Samara University receiving warm welcomes in villages throughout the region.
Demand among volunteers was so high that six dedicated “Snowdrop Descent” teams were formed under the university’s student construction brigade “Kryl’ya” (“Wings”): “Mayak” (Beacon), “Buran”, “Rys’” (Lynx), “Staya” (Pack), “Samurai,” and “Elbrus.”
Upon arrival in remote villages and rural settlements, the volunteers immediately began their work: restoring war memorials and commemorative sites, organizing memorial gatherings honoring those who fell during the Great Patriotic War, clearing snow, and assisting elderly or vulnerable residents with everyday household tasks they could no longer manage independently.
For younger schoolchildren, students conducted hands-on workshops, while future graduates took part in career guidance sessions and recruitment drives for student brigades. Experienced “Snowdrop Descent” veterans also provided legal consultations and specialized medical advice for adult residents.
Before concluding their mission, the teams hosted community concerts featuring patriotic and humorous performances, folk dances, and songs—bringing warmth, joy, and a sense of unity to local populations.
The All-Russian Patriotic Campaign “Snowdrop Descent RSO” is a youth-led volunteer movement that unites compassionate students from across the country. In 2026, participants once again delivered targeted support to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, children of wartime, and families of servicemembers involved in the special military operation.
